PROFESSOR NALOVA LYONGA OPENS THE GATES OF THE DISTANCE EDUCATION CENTRE TO TWO SPECIAL GUESTS.
Louis Paul Motaze, Cameroon Minister of Finance and Richard Bale, the Canadian High Commissioner to Cameroon were given the pride of place in a guided tour around the Distance Education Centre, on Thursday, 19 August 2021.
The visit was an occasion for both officials to see the infrastructure developed by the Minister of Secondary Education to ensure education goes on despite the coronavirus pandemic and to get first-hand experience on its functioning. The Healthy Holidays programme which has been going on for two weeks at the Centre offered the two hosts who were led by Professor Nalova Lyonga, Minister of Secondary Education, glimpses on both the infrastructure put in place and the distinctive ambience that prevails on the site.
After the visit which consisted of a power point presentation of the Centre and a guided tour of the facilities, the visitors thanked Professor Nalova Lyonga and saluted her vision and the consistent efforts made to translate such vision into a concrete reality.
To Louis Paul Motaze, the Distance Education Centre is a “revolutionary” infrastructure that will serve future generations. The patron of Cameroon Finance asserted that the project is worth sustaining, since distance education will help the State to solve many other issues in the Secondary Education sector. Richard Bale on the other hand confided that, as a long-standing partner of Cameroon in the Education sector, Canada supports the Distance Education programme since its inception and does not intend to do less.
Professor Nalova Lyonga acknowledged the assistance of the various partners as well as the mobilization of the Government at the behest of the Head of State, in setting up the Distance Education Centre, in order to preserve the right of each Cameroonian child to quality education everywhere and all the time.
