MINESEC CELEBERATES THE 37th EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2022
On the 8th of March 2022, the women of the Ministry of Secondary Education joined their counterparts all over the world in commemorating the 37th Edition of the International Women’s Day 2022 under the theme “Equality between Women and Men today for a sustainable tomorrow”.
After two years of silence due to the outburst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the dynamic women of the Ministry of Secondary Education paraded at the 20th May Boulevard in their uniquely designed Women’s Day attire.
The National Pedagogic Inspector for the Teaching and Promotion of Bilingualism in MINESEC, Mrs. Fah Adeline, had this opinion to share with her fellow women “We, MINESEC women need to work hard so that we will be able to stand as partners to the male folk. This is because when we talk of equality, we need to talk in terms of competence; women will not be promoted to the same places like men if we are not competent enough. So while we are fighting for equality, we should also be doing things that will increase our personal development so that when we are put in those positions that we want to be, we are going to fit in the positions and be able to give the feedback that is necessary for the development of our country”.
This year’s celebration kick started with some activities in the Ministry: Health watch including, free eye and teeth screening, a panel discussion on the theme “Equality between Women and Men today for a sustainable tomorrow”, food exhibition and the Great parade.
At the end of it all, Professor Nalova Lyonga, Minister of Secondary Education, offered a gala to honor the women of the Ministry. On this occasion, she had this to say “This women’s day reminds us of our role as women of the family. We must remember to be women, wives, mothers for us to do our work, the work of the female is very intense but we have to do it. In addition of taking care of our dear husbands, we need to do our best for I know that the men are good and are taking good care of us, it is not like in time passed. The men have to also agree that the women we have in Education and MINESEC are very good, I am therefore very proud of you all”.
