The Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Nalova Lyonga, has reaffirmed her readiness to use the success stories of Tunisian Private Institutions of Higher Learning and Vocational Training to bolster Technical and Vocational Secondary Education, boost the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and consolidate distance learning in Cameroon.

“I look forward to collaborating with Tunisia to promote easy access to quality education to secondary school students in Cameroon.”

This was one of the key statements she made, on 17 February 2025 in Yaounde, during the official opening ceremony of the 5th edition of the Open Business Days of Private Higher Education and Vocational Training in Tunisia.

Secondary Education Minister emphasised the interest of her ministerial department in capitalizing on the practicality of the Tunisian experience in Technical and Vocational Education, in order to facilitate the socio-economic integration of young Cameroonians by stating that: Quality education is one of the things that young people in Cameroon are looking for. It is vital to the Cameroonian government’s interest since it is an essential component of training young people for socioeconomic integration. I would like to seize this occasion to thank Tunisian authorities for their interest in young Cameroonians' education which they demonstrated by organizing open days to promote private education in Tunisia.”

The Republic of Tunisia which maintains excellent relations of cooperation and friendship with Cameroon is unquestionably a partner eager to welcome young Cameroonians seeking to be trained, to strengthen their technical capacities or simply raise their technical know-how to international standards.

Jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia and the Tunisian Trade Representation in Cameroon, this edition of the Open Business Days of Private Higher Education and Vocational Training in Tunisia aims to sensitise students on the various study and vocational training opportunities offered by Universities in Tunisia.

The event which is slated from 17 to 20 February 2025 in Yaounde and Douala is a platform for experience and knowledge sharing in some core priority areas of the Ministry of Secondary Education. These include: Technical and Vocational Secondary Education, distance learning as well as the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in secondary education.

It’s worth reminding that, the collaboration envisaged is within the framework of the Executive Cooperation Programme in Primary and Secondary Education signed on 27 April 2024 between Tunisia and Cameroon for the period spanning from 2024 through 2026.

“We are hoping that with time, we are going to form an excellent center of technology so that all these children who are coming here so hungry for education are going to have a center of excellence in technology, Professor Nalova Lyonga said.
