SMOOTH UNFOLDING OF EXAMS BY DECC AND THE GCE BOARD- 2025 SESSION

On June, 3, 2025, a significant field visit to some examination centers in the Mfoundi division was conducted to oversee the smooth unfolding of the examination process for exams under the Ministry of Secondary Education, organized by the Department of Examination and Certification (DECC) and the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Board. This visit was led by the Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Nalova Lyonga together with the Secretary of State to the Minister of Secondary Education in charge of Teacher’ Training, Boniface Bayaola on the one hand and the Inspector General of Education in the Ministry of Secondary Education, Jean Paul Marcellin Mebada on the other hand.

The field mission was intended to ensure a hitch free conduct of exams under DECC and the GCE Board, ensuring all candidates were duly registered, noting the number of candidates absent, inspecting the examination halls and making sure the sitting positions were respected as well as the presence of invigilators. Also, the inspection teams made sure the payment modality document of examination officials was put up in all the centres for transparency.
Moreover, strict attention was placed on the necessary security measures put in place, not leaving out the sanitary conditions of these exams. It was with immense satisfaction that the officials noted that all schools in addition to their regular security agents had a minimum of two law enforcement officers to ensure the safety and wellbeing of candidates throughout the examination period.

Examinations from DECC include: Brevet d’Etudes du Premier Cycle (BEPC), BEPC Bilingue, Certificat D’Aptitude Professionnelle (CAP) Industriel, Certificat D’Aptitude Professionnelle des Sciences et Technologie du Tertiaire (CAP) STT, Certificat d’Aptitude Pédagogique des d’Instituteurs des l’Enseignement Maternelle et Primaire (CAPIEMP), and Certificat d’Aptitude Professionnelle de l’Enseignement Technique (CAPIET), which registered a total of 282,484 marking an increase from 267,938 in 2024.
As for the GCE board, a total of 213,378 candidates are sitting in for the GCE Ordinary Levels, Technical and Vocational Education Exams (TVEE) Intermediate Level, GCE Advanced Level, Technical and Vocational Education Exams (TVEE) Advanced Level, as opposed to 196,357 candidates in 2024, representing an impressive rise of 8.67 percent. Additionally, the number of Special Need Candidates witnessed an increase, with 64 candidates registered this year, compared to 42 candidates last year.

Hence, a total number of 495,926 candidates are sitting in for both DECC and GCE Board exams, making a significant increase from 464,337 last year.
The evaluation team expressed satisfaction following the smooth administration of the examinations, noting that all regulations set by the governing bodies were adhered to.
